Nickelback Gig - 5/10/2012 - Newcastle
The first time I’ve ever seen Nickelback and lemme tell you- BEST NIGHT EVER ! :D
Their introduction started with as I predicted “This Means War” (the first track off their latest album, Here and Now) and then “Something In Your Mouth” (the first track off their second latest album, Dark Horse) - one of the best starts to a gig I’ve ever experienced. The whole set list consisted mostly of songs from these two and some more later albums including “Figured You Out” and “Animals” (two of my personal favorites) but also older releases such as “How You Remind Me” (which is the song that brought Nickelback to my attention) and “Too Bad” (another personal favorite and the song which made me think - I need to check out this band). What I also loved about the gig was how Chad interacted with the crowd - making a reference and light hearted joke about Justin Bieber, playing a drinking game out of the band playing songs about sex, drinking, having your heart broken, etc. (all of which if you know Nickelback is all their songs are ever about) and having a shot of whiskey in between every other song.
By the end of the night I was losing my biscuits to Burn It To The Ground. IT WAS SICK. I was jumping and singing till my voice was hoarse because that song is so badass and RAW- it still reminds me of RAW and all that is wrestling which is also why I love this band so much
What am I saying here?
Chad was so adorable, I’ve never been around to witness his talks he has during gigs and he got people to throw drinks at us from the stage (like, plastic pint cups of beer) and there were t-shirt cannons and that was I think before they played This Afternoon. It was so funny cos we were all like “YEAH WE WANT BEER” and we had our hands up in the air and apparently this one person caught the cup cos Chad went “nice catch!”
I understand what people mean now when they say they love a band. I love Nickelback more than ever now that I’ve seen them live cos I’ve gone through that step a fan must take in order to be one with the music.
If I had the chance I’d be in London today to see the show again it was that damn good.
I will talk for hours about this if someone asks me how it was because there’s so much about it that I absolutely loved
I WANT THEM BACK
